Aniyu paced up and down the brook, chasing a salmon fish. This wolf did not hunt, due to the many forest animals that had been her family as a pup. But fishing was another story. The wolf crouched down when the fish stopped moving. Should she leap into the water now? Or should she wait a little longer? Aniyu could not tell what to do. If she jumped before the fish was tired she could lose it. But if she waited too long it might notice her beyond the waters surface and bolt away. What would she do?

Renton was out in the forests of Eirest Green minding his own business until he noticed a wolf at the brook. His first instinct was to continue walking so as not to be seen by her and be chased after for an easy meal, but he decided to take another look at her and see that she was actually trying to get at something in the waters of the brook. This brought him curiosity, so he walked over to where the she-wolf was and hoped that she wouldn't immediately see him and spring into action on him. "Erm...excuse me, but do you need help with something?" he asked her.

The wolf quickly glanced up at the speeker, and then back down at the fish. "Shhh..." she whispered as quietly as she could. "I'm fishing." Aniyu didn't mean to be rude, but everything she did effected the outcome of whether or not she got to eat that evening. Her body was stiff as she placed all her attention on the fish, her eyes glowing with anticipation, wondering what the fish was going to do.

Renton watched Aniyu with wonder and thought of how he might contribute something to help her get what she needed. He remembered watching some bears in the past use their claws to grab at the fish, so he figured that Aniyu could use that technique. He asked her in whispers, "Well, why not use your claws to grab a fish at just the right time? I don't know if it really does work, but I've seen it used before. It's worth a shot."

"Like a bear?" she whispered back. "I wish I could. They have more force behind their shoulders. But I-" she was cut off when she saw the fish move. Without another moment to think, she splashed into the water, snapping her jaws down. The fish took off down stream, unharmed. The wolf came out of the creek, shaking her fur to get rid of the water. Her stomach growled, and she sighed. She had been longing for meet that night, but it would appear that she would have to settle for berries and other fruit... again.

Renton stood there, thinking of what he might do to help resolve this problem. Then an idea struck him. "I think I have an idea," he whispered to Aniyu. He started to walk into the water carefully and faced himself in the direction where the river flowed down. Then he stood perfectly still, waiting for the next fish to arrive. "I'm going to try using the tines on my antlers to either stab or scoop up the fish by lowering my head close to the water," he explained to her in hushed tones. "Then, once I catch one, I'll give it you. What do you think about that?"

"Like a net!" Aniyu exclaimed. "That would be perfect, thanks." Then a thought came to her head, "I didn't know that deer were predators?"

Renton smiled at knowing that Aniyu liked his idea. Then he lowered his head low to keep an eye on the approaching fish that swam downstream. Two fish swam close by, and he lowered his head close to the water until it was the right moment for him to dunk his antlers in the water and trap the fish in his tines. A couple times, he missed the fish, but one new fish came by, and Renton was successful at catching it. The moment the fish was caught in the antler tines, Renton sweeped his head to the side in order to toss the fish onto shore and let Aniyu calm the fish down so she could eat it soon after. "Well, there you go," Renton said to her. "That's one fish."

The wolf jumped over to the fish, wrapping her jaws around its throat to suffocate it. "Thanks!" she said, most obviously greatful for the meal. The water creature struggled in her grasp, but the fight didn't last long. When the fish stopped moving, Aniyu set it on the ground and poked it to make sure it was gone, before taking a large bite of the meat.

Renton watched as Aniyu furiously went after the fish . He smiled and figured that she must have been so hungry that she felt really greatful that he came by to help her get what she needed in the first place. "How hungry do you feel right now? I mean, do you feel hungry enough for more fish that you need my help again to help catch some more for you?"

"This is perfect, thank you." said the wolf, her jaws full of fish. Aniyu licked her lips, and took another bite. The sound of the water rushing by sounded in her ears as she ate, and the light wind whipped her fur this way and that. When she was finished, she began to dig a hole in the ground, looking at the remains of the fish every-so-often to judge how big to make the hole in the ground.

Renton watched as Aniyu started to dig a hole in the ground. He wondered what the purpose of that action was, so he stepped out of the water and asked her, "What are you digging a hole for? Are you trying to hide the bones of the fish or something?"
