Bambi has ventured to the beautiful, blue Sapphire Pond today. It reflects the golden sun, and is as smooth as glass. How tempting it looks... But no young animal is brave enough to get very close to the water, or jump in it! Many animals of all kinds surround her, watching her very closely, to see what she will do.
"Are you going to do it?" asks a young chipmunk eagerly in a whisper. "Shh!" says an older chipmunk, shoving the young chipmunk lightly.
Ignoring the interruption, Bambi starts to take little steps towards the water, determined to dip a hoof in the pond. Bambi soon gets very close to the bank of the pond, and sniffs at the water, unsure of what is in it.
Bambi slowly dips her hoof in the water, as she has wanted to do for a long while. She sees that the water feels wonderful, and is harmless. There is nothing to be afraid of! With a joyful yelp, she dives into the water, swimming happily.
There is a second of hesitation from the other animals, but then Bambi says, "Well, what are you waiting for? This is great!"
With many yelps much like Bambi's, the other creatures stampede towards the pond, kicking up dust with their hooves. Then they leap into the water and swim with Bambi, laughing at talking, wondering why they ever were afraid of this refreshing, warm water.

Renton was taking a short walk on one of the main paths of the forest until he felt thirsty. His eyes then spotted the Sapphire Pond, and it seemed like a good opportunity for him to get a light drink to fulfill his thirst, so he trotted up toward the pond.
Once he reached the pond's edge, he spread his front legs apart to lower his head down and lap at the water with his tongue. The water tasted great, so he continued to lap at the water. Then his eyes caught several creatures, including Bambi, playing in the pond nearby, so he stopped drinking to raise his head, stand tall and watch them play. He smiled to see that they were all having fun playing together in the pond.

Sully was walking up a path that led towards the Sapphire Pond. When he arrived, he saw several creatures playing in the water. He stared at them and wondered back to his youth. He really didn't have a playful and carefree youth as these animals had. He then spotted a buck also watching them play. He then turned to leave the way he came.

Bambi had been playing in the water, splashing and laughing joyfully. This was some of the most fun she had ever experienced!
But then out of the corner of her eye, she saw a deer trot up to the pond, take a drink from it, and watch her and the others. She could have sworn he was Renton, but she couldn't see from this distance. Then she also saw a buck trot up the pond, look at them, and turn away.
Who are these deer? Bambi asked herself. But she wasn't content with just asking, she wanted to know. She wasn't one to let adventure and mystery slip right out of her hands, so she slipped unnoticed out of the pond and trotted softly after Sully.

Sully was walking along the path he took to get here when he heard something come up to him. He turned around and saw a fawn come up to him. He was startled a little and he looked at the fawn.

Bambi stopped, alarmed, as Sully turned around. Maybe I'm not so quiet after all, realized Bambi, rather stunned. She had prided herself on usually being very quiet when following creatures in the forest - not that she did it often.
Bambi then suddenly realized that Sully was startled as well. She relaxed. He felt similar to the way she did. Instead of bolting, she said kindly, "Hello, Sully."

Renton noticed that Bambi stopped splashing around to notice him. He didn't mean to intrude upon her joyful playing in the water. He simply wanted to watch from afar and feel happy about the way Bambi and her friends were expressing innocence and fun in their little game. He sighed to himself and thought about how he missed those childhood days of his playful youth. Then he wondered if he could perhaps relive those days by playing along with Bambi and her friends. He quietly went up to Bambi and lightly splashed her. He was ready to stop and look up acting innocent once Bambi would react and look up at him.

Bambi was halfway in the water, and halfway out of it. She felt a light splash on her hind legs. A little startled, but not alarmed or upset, she spun around. She saw Renton looking very innocent, and grinned.
"Hello, Renton!" she said happily.
She then pranced behind Renton and splashed him back. She readied herself, thinking, Wow, Renton was so quiet when he snuck up behind me! How did he do that???

Renton laughed after noticing Bambi had splashed right back. "Hey, Bambi. I couldn't help but notice that you were playing in the water with your friends, and I wondering if perhaps I could join you for a little bit."

"Certainly!" said Bambi, grinning at the thought of a new game. Then Bambi remembered how quiet Renton had been.
"I also have a question for you, and this might be a good time to ask it," added Bambi.

Renton noticed Bambi make a grin on her face. He could sense that she perhaps had a plan on how to get him wet all over somehow, but he was sure that he could prepare himself for that. Then he heard her ask a question to him, and he asked, "Sure, what is it?"

Bambi took a deep breath, a little embarrased to ask this question. But she spat out:
"When you came up behind me-I know you weren't sneaking behind me-but you were so quiet. How did you do it? You were amazing!"
Bambi stopped to cough, and then continued, more at ease, "I've been trying to walk lightly like that for such a long time, but I'm not very good at it. How did you do it?"

After listening to Bambi ask her question, Renton smiled, for he was glad to answer something he knew so much about. "Well, I think all it takes is not pressing your hooves too hard on the ground when running and using gentle strides when moving through water. Believe me, I have observed a lot of deer in my lifetime run and swim very smoothly without making too much noise. I was taught by several bucks as a fawn that being absolutely quiet is very important, especially when it comes to protecting one's self from any danger lurking in the forest."

(Sorry for not posting.)
When Sully saw the fawn go over to the other buck, he decided to leave. He didn't want to stay here any longer and the fawn seemed to be having a good time with that buck.

Bambi listened to Renton and soaked up his words. She nodded. But out of the corner of her eye, she saw Sully leave suddenly. Why?
Bambi wanted to go find out, but she didn't want to be rude to Renton. So she let out a small sigh and looked back at Renton.
